The first known Muslim to arrive in Canada came in 1851. Early Muslim settlements began in the 1930s. After WWII, most Muslims arriving in Canada since the 1960s settled in urban areas. In 2021, The Muslim Canadian community has grown beyond a population of 1 million.

The Canadian Muslim population is not monolithic but rather it is diverse with many cultures and ethnicities. With several generations of Canadian Muslims, over 30% of Canadian Muslims are native-born.
