Combating Anti-Palestinian Racism and Antisemitism: An Intersectional Approach to Canada’s Anti-Racism Strategy

CMPAC, along with Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME), Independent Jewish Voices (IJV), and the Arab Canadian Lawyers Association (ACLA), has recently released a significant policy paper titled “Combating Anti-Palestinian Racism and Antisemitism: Intersectionality within Canada’s Anti-Racism Strategy.” As Canada prepares to update its Anti-Racism Strategy this Spring 2024, this timely document urges a comprehensive reevaluation to better address and integrate the complex dynamics of anti-Palestinian racism and antisemitism within national policies. The paper highlights the necessity of acknowledging settler-colonialism’s impact, refining the definition of anti-Palestinian racism, ensuring balance in antisemitism interpretation, and protecting civil liberties among other critical recommendations.
