Oakville, April 29 – The Canadian Muslim Public Affairs Council (CMPAC) congratulates Prime Minister Mark Carney on the Liberal Party winning this election and forming the next government.
The 2025 federal election has marked a turning point for Canadian democracy — and Canadian Muslims have played a historic role in shaping it.
With the Liberal Party forming a minority government, the Conservative Party facing defeat, and Pierre Poilievre losing his own seat in Carleton, this election revealed the power of informed, values-driven voter mobilization.
While many issues shaped the campaign — tariffs, the economy, housing affordability — CMPAC and other grassroots campaigns made one thing clear: Gaza could not and would not be ignored. Despite repeated attempts to sideline it, Canadian Muslims ensured that justice, international law, and human rights, whether in Palestine or Canada, were part of the national conversation.
CMPAC, through its MuslimsVote.ca campaign, mobilized one of the largest grassroots and digital engagement efforts in Canadian political history. Over 70,000 voters engaged with our platform over 500,000 times to access riding-level recommendations based on candidates’ positions on Gaza, civil liberties, and human rights — not party affiliation or fear-based tactics. MuslimsVote.ca became the most visited civic engagement tool in the election among Canadian Muslims.
CMPAC mobilized over 1,000 volunteers in key ridings and accessed over 70 mosques and centres across the country, from British Columbia to Nova Scotia.
The results speak volumes.
In dozens of ridings, our campaign worked shoulder-to-shoulder with communities demanding more from their representatives. Our campaign engaged heavily with candidates in close to 50 ridings, endorsing candidates and completing recommendations for all 343 ridings.
This election marks an evolution in Muslim political engagement:
- Increased turnout
- Unprecedented national coordination
- Clear alignment around principle & policies over partisanship
- 22 endorsed candidates on policies won their seats (over 73% success rate)
This election marks more than a shift in seats — it marks a shift in political consciousness. Muslim Canadians turned out not only in greater numbers, but with greater clarity and purpose. This is the evolution of a civic movement — grounded in justice and accountable leadership.
We thank the thousands of volunteers, partners, community organizers, and voters who made this campaign possible. CMPAC remains committed to holding all parties to account — and ensuring that the voices of Canadian Muslims continue to shape the future of this country.
