Stop the Normalization of Genocide – Munk Debates Hosts Four former Israeli Politicians

On Wednesday, December 3rd, the Munk Series is hosting a debate on the Two-State Solution in Palestine. The event will feature four controversial Israeli figures, each of whom have held influential positions within the Israeli government or diplomatic establishment.

Each also previously served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), an institution currently under intense international scrutiny for alleged of violations of international humanitarian law during the ongoing genocide in Gaza. This debate is being held while conservative estimates indicate more than 69,000 Palestinians have been killed. Canada has both a legal responsibility and a moral obligation to ensure that visas and entry permissions align with international legal standards.

Until transparent investigations take place, Canada should not be hosting officials whose past decisions or public statements raise credible concerns regarding potential breaches of international law We call on: 1) The Canada Border Services Agency to deny entry;

2) The Royal Canadian Mounted Police to assess whether their prior actions in governmental or military roles warrant further examination under Canadian or international law;

3) Global Affairs Canada to designate them Persona Non Grata; Canadians deserve assurance that our country applies its human-rights commitments consistently, regardless of political status or origin.
