The Canadian government is pushing Bill C-9, the so-called Combatting Hate Act. This bill is framed as a response to rising hate, it dangerously expands police powers and uses vague, overbroad language that could be weaponized against peaceful protest and campus organizing. Bill C-9 will make it even easier to criminalize pro-Palestine activism.
