With the conclusion of the Palestine Solidarity and Advocacy tour, featuring Sami Hamdi and organized by the Canadian Muslim Public Affairs Council (CMPAC), we would like to take a moment to reflect on the journey we have shared together. Embarking on a four-city adventure, our tour began in the vibrant city of London, Ontario, at Western University, where we set the stage for what would be an impactful series of events.

From London, our path led us to Ottawa, Montreal, and Mississauga, cities brimming with their unique energy and challenges. Despite encountering unforeseen challenges, last-minute cancellations, and facing pressure from those seeking to stifle pro-Palestinian voices, we persevered ahead with alternate venues, refusing to let adversity dampen our spirits.

Each stop on our tour brought its own set of triumphs and trials, yet through it all, one unyielding theme prevailed: a steadfast dedication to shedding light on the situation in Palestine, illuminating the ongoing atrocities and genocide in Gaza. Sami Hamdi gave an in-depth analysis into the regional context and the role of regional and international stakeholders in the crisis. Although global powers were at play, one of the most impactful changemakers was the grassroot movement of pro-Palestine individual citizens all over the world. This commitment to amplifying pro-Palestinian voices and advocating for justice remained unwavering throughout our journey. The culmination of our efforts brought us to the Greater Toronto Area, where the University of Toronto – Mississauga Campus welcomed us with an unwavering commitment to free speech.

In Mississauga, amidst the bustling atmosphere and eager anticipation, we witnessed the fruition of our collective endeavors. With the largest turnout and a full house event, Sami Hamdi’s message resonated deeply with the audience. His words transcended boundaries, inspiring and moving people to action.

Throughout the tour, Sami Hamdi exemplified, not merely, the role of a speaker, but that of an inspirational leader and advisor. His insight on the media’s biases, the transformative potential of social media in amplifying voices, and the imperative of governmental accountability resonated deeply with all attendees. Furthermore, his emphasis on the significance of the Muslim voice and the collective strength of the Ummah (global muslim community) served as a powerful call to action for Palestinian unity and solidarity. Sami Hamdi also underscored the urgency of advocating politically, highlighting the importance of a factual narrative surrounding Palestine and stressing the potency of individual and grassroots political activism for effecting change. His insights into holding politicians accountable for complicity in the genocide further reinforced the value of our collective efforts.

As we close this chapter of our journey, we realize that this is only the beginning of our challenging work ahead. The Palestine Solidarity and Advocacy tour has created a momentum and ignited a passion within our community members and pro-Palestinian allies.  We will continue to advocate tirelessly for justice, knowing that each of our efforts, no matter how small, contributes to a greater cause. Together, we stand on the brink of meaningful change, propelled by the belief that a just and equitable resolution to the Palestinian struggle is not only possible but inevitable, insha’Allah (God willing).
